Customers should check the control panel on the outside of their building to confirm that flow is circulating in the manner that the system is designed. There are three indicator lights mounted on the front of the control panel; Green, Yellow and Red.
Green
When the Green indicator light is illuminated, the circulation of potable water into the building is normal.
Yellow
When the Yellow indicator light is illuminated, the heat trace has been turned on. This heat trace can be turned on either by BUECI operators or a flow switch. The flow switch controls the heat trace through a relay, if flow is lost it will automatically turn on the heat trace to start the thawing process and help keep the water lines from freezing solid. A yellow indicator light can be normal and there is no need to contact BUECI.
Red
When the Red indicator light is illuminated, the circulation of potable water has been restricted, and you need to call BUECI at 852-2009 during business hours or 852-3176 after hours. BUECI personnel will complete a service trouble call form which will require some information from you to help assist us in determining what the problem may be. Upon completion of the service trouble call form, one of the BUS operators will go to your residence and trouble shoot your service to determine what the problem may be. If the problem is found to be on the Barrow Utilities side of the system they will repair it. If the problem is found to be on the building owners side of the system, the BUS operator will inform the building owner and the building owner will need to address the problem
.
Blue
On some newer services a blue indicator light has been added. When the blue indicator light is illuminated, the heat trace on the customer side of the service has been turned on. This heat trace is turned on manually by a BUS operator to help in the thawing of lines on the customer side of the service.
