BUS PLANT OPERATOR
OBJECTIVE:
A. Responsible
for operations and maintenance in BUS Plant, Utilidor, Pump Stations and
outside Plant.
REPORTING
RELATIONSHIPS:
A. Reports
to: Plant Superintendent, Chief of Operations and Operator-in-charge.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. BUS
PLANT:
1: Know and understand all safety policies and
rules.
2: Monitoring and logging of all running
equipment.
3: Performs routine maintenance, makes minor
repairs and assists with major repair jobs as assigned.
4: Record data for maintenance procedures and
schedules.
5: Operates and maintains boilers and heat
exchangers.
6. Uses Plant computers to record data and
monitor field activity.
7. Monitors fire systems and evac and panel
8. Handles all emergency calls, directs necessary
action, and informs Supervisor.
9. Operates and maintains pumps, motors,
control systems and valves associated with water distribution and fire
protection systems.
10. Monitors all control room data as to the
current status of all flow, temperature and pressure in the BUS Water
Distribution systems
11. Repair and test water meters, record meter
data
12. At a minimum, must test for and obtain an
Alaska State Department of Environmental Conservation Water Distribution
License as specified and a Wastewater Collection license. Must
keep license current for entire term of employment.
13. Required to perform other duties as specified
by Plant Supervision.
B. UTILIDOR:
1. Know and understand all safety policies and
rules.
2. Performs patrols of all Utilidor sections.
3. Operates and maintains all water and sewer
mainlines, as well as water and sewer laterals up to and including the service
barrels.
4. Operates and maintains all sumps and sump
pumps.
5. Repairs all leaks and line damage, uses
pipe fusion tools.
6. Operates flush truck, vactor jet rodder
truck for the cleaning and flushing of water/sewer mains, also operates and
maintains ultramatic heaters and diesel powered pumps.
7. Operates and maintains Utilidor telemetry
and communication system.
8. Monitors and maintains Utilidor fire
detection and gas detection systems. Uses specialized calibration tools and
procedures.
9. Monitors thermistors, documents and
converts data.
10.
Keeps Utilidor clean.
11. Required to perform other duties as specified
by supervision.
C. PUMP STATIONS:
1. Know and understand all safety policies and
rules.
2. Operates and maintains fire and gas
detection systems.
3. Operates and maintains boilers and glycol
circulation loops.
4. Operates and maintains air handling units
and related control valves and filters.
5. Operates and maintains sewage lift pumps
and related valving and controls.
6. Operates and maintains standby power
systems.
7.
Records and logs data on all running equipment,
temperature, pressure gauges and control positions.
8. Required to perform other duties as
specified by supervision.
POLICY:
Shall
be familiar with all applicable Cooperative policies and is responsible for
adherence to said policies.
DRIVERS’ LICENSE:
Must
possess or obtain within 30 days, an Alaska Commercial Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Able to
lift 100 lbs., heavy tools and components.
2. Ability to utilize various types of
specialized safety equipment, (i.e. respirators, lifting harness and eye, face,
and head protection).
3. Must work in confined spaces, sometimes
underground.
4. Must work in adverse weather conditions,
(i.e. extreme cold and darkness).
5. Be able to climb
ladders.
6. Be flexible enough
to work in manholes and be able to enter and exit manholes.
7. Be able to do snow
removal via shovel.
8. Be able to gain
entry to cabs of large trucks, loaders, etc.
9. Requires full range of physical motion to
perform all manner of routine operational and maintenance duties associated
with this position.
EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Willing to work hard in the extreme
cold. Good work ethics and attendance.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School diploma or equivalent. Any training in water distribution and wastewater
collection would be helpful.
